A coach who actually gets it.

Ruth portrait

I know what it's like to be genuinely good at something and spend most of your time convinced you are not.

My coaching isn't built on theory, it's built on having been that capable, exhausted, self-doubting person. And on knowing that the voice telling you you're not enough is not accurate.

That experience is why I don't offer textbook advice that sounds good in theory but falls apart by Tuesday morning. (And let's face it, we've all had to bit our tongue when a well meaning, 'Just work smarter, not harder,' slaps us in the face!)

What I offer instead is practical tools, honest challenge, and the occasional question ythat makes you realise you've known the answer all along but have been too exhasted to hear it. Because if you've lost sight of who you are in the role, what you need isn't just someone who will listen. You need someone to help you find your way back with a bit of structure, some accountability, and far less self-blame than you are currently carrying.

Like a river finding its path, you will find your way through.

Sometimes you just need someone on the bank to help you see it.

A practical,
non-judgemental space.

I create a confidential space where you can actually breathe. Where you can admit "I don't have all the answers" without it mattering. Where you can talk about the weight you're carrying without someone telling you to meditate or read yet another leadership book.

We work together, within your reality, not some idealised version where you have unlimited capacity, resources and time. I help you see the pathway forward that actually fits your Tuesday, not the textbook.

Tools you can actually use.

We use practical tools to make change tangible. These aren't worksheets for a folder; they're the equipment you need to chart your course. Think of them as strategies for the moments when the board meeting goes sideways or the Sunday night dread creeps back in.

DISC profiling

Understand why communication styles clash and where the friction in your team actually comes from. We use this to bridge the gap between "detail-focused" and "big-picture" thinking so you can finally work in sync.

NLP techniques

These are cognitive tools for high-pressure moments, not meditation apps. You will learn how to interrupt a 2am budget spiral, reframe a conflict from multiple angles to find unexpected solutions, or steady yourself when a difficult conversation makes your stomach drop.

Values-based leadership

We identify your true priorities rather than the ones you feel you "should" have. By aligning your decisions with your purpose instead of just firefighting, you move from leading in a panic to leading with intent.

A professional approach.

Ethical safety & confidentiality.

Your trust is non-negotiable. I operate under the Association for Coaching (AC) Code of Ethics, ensuring strict confidentiality. If coaching is organisation-funded, your approval is always required for any feedback shared.

Proven expertise, not platitudes.

I rely on formally accredited frameworks like DISC profiling and NLP techniques. The tools I use are proven and reliable, not subjective advice, guaranteeing you evidence-based strategies.

Systemic understanding.

I know your challenges are rarely just individual. Having led organisational transformation, my work considers the entire system you operate within - resource constraints and stakeholder pressures - to ensure solutions are practical.

Focused on sustainable action.

I don't aim to "fix you." I provide the rigorous thinking space and accountability needed to help you lead effectively and sustainably within your reality, leading to tangible, lasting change.

Voices from the bank

Myself and the governors have been extremely impressed with the work you have carried out with our staff. Your professionalism and commitment have been evident throughout.

C. Gregory - Headteacher, Southampton School

Prior to coaching with Ruth I didn't constructively reflect on situations. I now feel I have skills and insights to be able to do this. I have met targets I believed were out of my reach and this has given me a real sense of purpose. The sessions have also helped me to separate work from home. I no longer check emails or Teams out of office hours.

D. Callender - NHS Business Manager, Hampshire

Ruth’s coaching has had a profound impact on both my personal and professional growth as a secondary teacher stepping into leadership. Her support has helped me build real confidence in my role, particularly in developing the ability to reflect more deeply and honestly on my own practice.

N. King - Secondary Senior Leader

Ruth’s coaching has been a turning point, helping me get unstuck, believe in myself again, and take meaningful steps towards the future I want. I am deeply grateful for her support, insight, and unwavering belief in me.

Gayle - Business owner

Coaching sessions with Ruth greatly streamlined my thinking, helping me clarify my vision and develop a strategic plan of action. Her supportive yet challenging approach consistently motivated me to think more deeply and pursue my goals with confidence.

S. Bullivant - Snr Leader, Glenmoor & Winton Academies
